The 1st ever Teen Lock - in at the Library was so much fun!

30 teens attended the Lock - in. We built and played a miniature golf course, played Twister, listened to music and danced, played games, watched a movie and ate lots of snacks! The pictures show all of the teens playing "Sardines" and "Murder." We had teens from Greensburg schools, North and South Decatur and even a couple who home school. We all had a great time.
If you want to see all of the pictures - click the library link at the end of this post - click TEENS and then Photo Galleries. You can even order copies of the pictures from the Picasa site. Click the album and then prints at the top of the page - www.greensburglibrary.org

TABOO TUESDAY

Sign up begins on Sept. 1 for TABOO TUESDAY which will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 22 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Come play TABOO with a group of teens. Bring your friends! Snacks provided. You can register by calling the Library at 663-4455 or by stopping by the Children's Room Check Out Desk.
Never played before? This is the game where you try to get your team to guess the secret word, without using the five Taboo clues. So, if the secret word is "kitten," you can't say "meow", "cat", "purr", "furry", or "animal". If you do, you'll be unceremoniously "buzzed" by the opposing team. You've got 60 seconds to get your team to guess as many words as possible. But, choose your clues carefully because they might be Taboo!

Young Adult Book Discussion Group

We will be starting to read The Hunger Games for our first YA Book Discussion Group on September 1st.
Multiple copies of the books will be available at least one month prior to the discussion so that all will have a chance to read it.

FAQ:
When will the discussion be held? The first Monday of each month - so October 5 for the first discussion on The Hunger Games
Where? The Library meeting room
What time? 7 - 8 pm
Who can join? Students from Greensburg, N. Decatur and S. Decatur in grades 6 - 12.
What do I have to do? Read the book prior to the discussion and think about what topics from the book that you might like to discuss. There will be some starter questions each month. You will never be required to talk. You can just listen to the others if you want!
Will there be food? YES! There will always be snacks and drinks. What fun would a discussion be without food?
Can I suggest a book for an upcoming discussion? Absolutely! Just email me at ldurbin@greensburglibrary.org or call me at the library at 663-2826.

NOTE TO PARENT: I will be choosing books that appeal to this age group. Some of the books may have content that you and your family are not comfortable with. I encourage you to look at the book descriptions online or stop in and look at the book if you are concerned. If the book is clearly "rated" for the older age group I will require an adult to be with a younger student when they check the book out. If I see the need to separate the age groups at some point, I will, but for now we will read and discuss the same books.
